-Lakes of the Clouds Hut-   Lakes of the Clouds hut is located on a shelf near the base of Mt. Monroe at an elevation of about 5050'. It provides a nice view of the Summit of Mt. Washington and the vast open area surrounding it.  It has accomodations for 90 guests. The hut is open to the public from June to mid-September. A refuge room in the cellar is left open in the winter for emergency use only. (back)
